Young people facing fears on residential trips
Our Prince’s Trust Team programme is one of our most successful education programmes for local young people across Suffolk. The programme takes place over 12 weeks and is life-changing allowing our participants to gain confidence and skills and overcome challenges they face.
In the second week of the programme, our young people spend an action-packed week away on a residential trip at an activity centre, which is so important for the forming of the Team and making a crucial impact on each participant involved. The residential trip is an important part of the journey encouraging the Team to try new things and realise their own strengths within their team.
We saw our teams facing their fears, forming as a team and working on their own strengths and weaknesses. Many faced fears of heights and open water but were able to overcome these with the support of their Team members. They will use their team work skills throughout the rest of the programme and following on from their time with Inspire Suffolk into work, training and education depending on their next step!

I found it a challenge being with lots of people but we were given lots of opportunities to try lots of new things which helped us come together as a team. I enjoyed being outdoors even though it was really cold, and I learnt so much about myself!
Our Teams are now back from their residential and focusing on their community projects in their local areas. The residential has helped set them up for the weeks ahead and we are looking forward to seeing them on the rest of their journeys!
We have a new supporter’s scheme, the Inspire 30 Club, through which you can fund one of our vital activity residential trips throughout the year. Find out more about this here.
