Strictly Charity is back!

Strictly Charity with Ipswich School of Dancing is here for 2019!

We’re looking for people to volunteer to take on the challenge of learning to dance and fundraise for us for our Strictly Charity 2019 fundraiser!

Once again, we’re teaming up with Ipswich School of Dancing for our popular dancing fundraiser Strictly Charity, which is returning with a grand finale in the style of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday 20th July at Trinity Park. The event aims to raise money to support local young people to overcome numerous challenges onto a positive future through our life-changing Inspire education and sports programmes. Applications close on Friday, 1st March 2019, 12pm.

We are currently searching for 5 men and 5 women volunteers to learn to dance for the event, who will be tasked to fundraise £500 each for our charity. In the 10-weeks leading up to the event, our volunteers will learn to dance with the support of Ipswich School of Dancing and 10 semi-professional dancers from the dance school. Over the 10 weeks, the volunteer dancers will rehearse two dance routines with their semi-professional dancer from Ipswich School of Dancing, which they will perform in front of a panel of celebrity and local judges at the finale.

Those interested in taking part are invited to register their interest with us by filling in our Expression of Interest Form and a short list will be created.

Dates for your diary

There will be a pre-training meeting on Sunday 7th April at the Ipswich School of Dancing which all applicants are required to attend before your space is confirmed (don’t worry – we will not be testing your dancing ability here).

Once you have found out that you have been successful, training will then commence on Sunday 12th May from 18:30 until 20:30 for 10 weeks in the lead up to the event at Ipswich School of Dancing, 22 Bond Street, Ipswich, IP4 1JE.

The final will be hosted at Trinity Park on Saturday 20th July. We will offer tickets to our dancers first in the first couple of training weeks and then release these to the public.

Volunteer dancers must commit to raising a minimum of £500 for Inspire to take part in Strictly Charity. Inspire will be on hand to support you with your fundraising, with ideas and motivation along the way. Dancers are also required to make a one-off donation of £40 to secure their place and take part.

Why should you do it?

We set a fundraising target to support the young people we work with daily who vitally need our help. Find out more about our work here…

Sara Warburton, Fundraising and Events Officer at Inspire says:

“Strictly Charity is one of our showcase events which we’re known for and we are so excited for it to be returning for our best one yet! It is a fantastic and one-off experience learning to dance with Ipswich School of Dancing which raises lots of money to change the lives of local young people. Thank you to Emma Hawley and the dance school for their above and beyond support once again.”
