Hundreds of children take part in QuadKids Competition at Inspire Suffolk

We were so excited to host one of our favourite events of the year this week with Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games called QuadKids! We were delighted to be hosting the U9 athletics event to over 300 Year 3 and 4 children from local primary schools.

QuadKids is an athletics competition which focuses on four core disciplines; running, throwing, jumping and sprinting each team scores point for each athlete in the event which then gives an overall winning team.

As part of the QuadKids competition each school is allocated a country to represent in the competition. In the opening ceremony it was great to see all the children getting the spirit of things with their face paint, costumes and waving their flags! It brought the field to life with the opening ceremony parade. Inspire Suffolk even received a phone call from local neighbours saying how fantastic it was to see us put on such a great event for children after hearing how much fun all the children were having!

Each school competed so well showing true sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event. This year St Mary’s Woodbridge took first place overall, Sidegate in second and Cedarwood in third place. Well done to all of the schools involved!

Inspire Suffolk and the Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games were supported on the day by the Sports Leaders from Northgate and Copleston High School. The event was also supported by our Inspire Suffolk Coaches and Apprentices who helped all the children with the activities and handed out lots of energetic high fives throughout the day.

Sam Burman, Sports Development and Schools Partnership Officers at Inspire Suffolk says: “It’s great to have hosted such a great event like QuadKids once again at Inspire Suffolk! We witnessed a lot of enthusiasm from all the children and would like to thank everyone who was involved. We loved seeing over 300 children enjoying sport and putting their athletic skills to the test and it was a privilege to host with Ipswich & South Suffolk School Games!”
