Looking back on an amazing Summer for Inspire

What a summer we’ve had at Inspire!  From making a difference to local young people with our education programmes Team, Step Up & NCS, to delivering over 2,400 Holiday Club places for children to keep active during the holidays, to hosting free sports sessions every weekday evening in Ipswich for 5-16-year-olds!

NCS

Our young people have been unstoppable this summer on our NCS programmes. We had two unstoppable groups of 15-17 year olds take part in NCS with us this summer. They went on a jam-packed activity residential trip to Norfolk, had a university style experience at the very impressive Framlingham College and went to Ed Sheeran’s Castle on the Hill and made a huge impact on their local communities with their Social Action Projects including clearing Felixstowe beach of 2,696 cigarette butts!

Amazing memories, new friendships, so much confidence and lots of new skills! We cannot explain how proud we are and what a summer we’ve had on NCS! Read more about it here >

Twilight Run success for Inspire!

The annual Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road Race happened on Friday 3rd August and we were the chosen race charity for the third year running! The Inspire team were there in full force to support the event and our amazing volunteer runners who ran for Inspire to beat the sunset!

We were absolutely overwhelmed with the support we received from our fundraisers! Inspire relies on fundraising and grants so events like this really make a difference. A massive thank you to all the runners that fundraised for Inspire and donated to us on the evening and through our JustGiving campaign!

We had 11 runners take part in this year’s race and we are delighted to announce we raised over £2,500 which is amazing!

Young people build confidence with Team programme

We had 6 groups of young people graduate from our 12-week Prince’s Trust Team programme in July! It was amazing to hear the journeys and progress that our young people have made in the past 12 weeks! At the end of our Team programme, the young people who took part must talk about their journeys to an audience of family, friends and Inspire supporters. There were some amazing stories of courage, resilience, teamwork, and so much more that makes us so proud as a charity!  We have 6 more Team programmes starting this September, find out more here >

Free sport every weekday of Summer!

We were so pleased to be able to offer free sports on every weekday evening over the summer holidays in Ipswich to give local children and young people something to do, get them engaged in a positive activity and build their confidence! We offered a range of sports from cricket to hockey, dance to football and media sessions with Ipswich Community Media.

So many children enjoyed these free to access sports across the summer! Take a look at our updated timetable here >

Building skills in retail with Tesco Copdock

In August, we ran a Step Up programme in Retail in partnership with Tesco Copdock. The young people gained lots of industry-related and vaulable employability skills, health and safety, manual handling and food safety training, as well as the opportunity to do work experience within 8 different sections which was an amazing experience for those who took part!

Holiday Clubs

We delivered over 2,400 places at our holiday clubs across Suffolk this Summer. Children enjoyed themselves taking part in sports, crafts and dance with the Ipswich School of Dancing.

One parent said: “My son has had a great time with you today and last week!”

We can’t wait for October Half Term >

Thank you to everyone who has made our summer unforgettable! We hope to see you again soon. Find out what’s on and how you can support us here.
