Ipswich Buses support Inspire’s students with free travel

Local bus company Ipswich Buses has pledged its support for Inspire and the young people that we work with.

The bus company, which operates in Ipswich and the surrounding villages, will be providing free bus passes to students taking part in our personal development courses in the town to allow students to attend the course and travel to and from work experience and interviews.

Here at Inspire, we support young people across Suffolk and North Essex to overcome challenges that they are facing onto a positive future in employment or further training through their numerous personal development programmes and activities. Courses which these bus passes will benefit include our Prince’s Trust Team programme and Fast Forward, which develop skills they need to gain employment and build confidence.

We hope that this will remove one of the many barriers which young people face when engaging with courses like ours.

Our Chief Executive Terry Baxter says: “We are very grateful for the support of Ipswich Buses to our learners. The bus passes will provide an easy way for many young people to get to Inspire’s courses in Ipswich and remove the anxieties which surround young people having to pay for travel at a time when finance can be a barrier to participation.”

Alana-May Whybrow, one of the students currently on our current Ipswich Team programme, says:

“The bus passes are really helpful to help me get to my course on time and without having to worry about having the money to do so. It’s amazing that we have been offered this opportunity by Ipswich Buses, who are supporting us and showing that they are interested in helping people like me improve their lives.”

Declan Leonard, another student on the programme, says: “It really helps us with independent travelling and getting to our courses on time, rather than scraping together loose change. Thank you Ipswich buses!”

Danielle Devonish, Marketing and Customer Service Manager, from Ipswich Buses says: “We are very proud to be supporting Inspire, we are delighted that our support to the programme is helping the young people in the community.  We hope that all the students involved will be able to learn key life and works skills that they can use throughout their careers.”
