Bursaries available for our BTEC Football Scholarship

We are pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the Aubrey Orchard Lisle Charitable Trust for students studying on our BTEC Education and Football Scholarships this coming September.

The grant will provide nine students with the opportunity to secure a bursary of up to £1,000, which will provide a support package including providing training kit, football boots, IT equipment and funding for academic trips including to St George’s Park, home of England’s National Teams.

BTEC Education & Football ScholarshipOur scholarship involves a mix of academic study and practical football training, where students benefit from learning the 11-a-side game whilst incorporating a BTEC qualification in Sport. The 2-year course provides students with the opportunity to gain a qualification equivalent to 3 A-Levels allowing progression on to University, full time employment and other routes, whilst having the opportunity to play against other development teams including Crystal Palace, Millwall and Braintree Town during the course.

The bursary is available to apply for once you have enrolled on to the course. We will be holding weekly pre-season training sessions on Wednesdays throughout July and August giving a taster of various aspects of the course. If you would like to attend these sessions and keep up your fitness levels, get in touch with our Scholarship Tutor, Matt Cook on [email protected] or call 07590983295.

Matt Cook, Scholarship Tutor at Inspire Suffolk says:

“We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for our new students to apply for this bursary and are very grateful to the Aubrey Orchard Lisle Charitable Trust. This will help to enhance the student’s experience of the course and provide support for those who may not otherwise have access to costs for things like IT and sports equipment.”

Kai Duncan, who has graduated through the Inspire Suffolk scholarship this year and is moving on to an apprenticeship with BT, says:

“I would recommend the programme to any future scholars. It opens a lot of doors into Universities and other higher apprenticeships, as long as you work hard and are committed to the course. I have thoroughly enjoyed the football side. The matches are against good opposition with good technical ability so it is guaranteed to find out your own skill level against other top players in the region.”
